Fun, but lacking

It was fun, solidly made, and overall fairly well done. But There are several problems that diminish the real enjoyment level of the experience.

The trick level, which has been commented on profusely, is completely unintuitive, as if you have not been shown the technique, you are highly unlikely to figure out how to do it. If using the trick made it easy, it would be one thing, but the trick is still difficult to pull off, and only works if you do it PERFECTLY, which means that if you were using trial and error to try to win, you might think up the trick plenty of times, but still fail and think yourself wrong.

Another problem would be that the game really doesn't last long. I got through it in about 20 minutes, not really trying that hard.

On the note of difficulty, though, i found it strange that early levels required a great deal more work than later ones. Later levels did indeed involve multitudes of enemies and cells, but number does not equal difficulty, as once you have more cells than the other teams, you essentially spend the remainder of time just waiting to win.

It's a good game, but it needs to be made slightly more clear what is needed on that one particular level, and as a general note, the scaling of difficulty is way off. I had more trouble on the earliest levels than i did in the entire second half of the game.

Incredible

This is truly deserving of praise. While it is only truly a tech demo, I thought that it was amazing, and shows GREAT potential for future use in other games and media online. At the risk of sounding overzealous, this could change online flash media as we know it.

My new version should be compatible with Away 3d and maybe Papervision 3d (flash 3d engines). Once I have that I could easily make 3d games like this.

Greatest Suprise Parody EVER

Lo and behold i go on the front page and there it is, human centipede THE GAME. Ah, a game form of the movie that made me want to wretch for hours. NOW THIS I MUST SEE. And i did, and i had no idea how you would make it but damn when it was just a version of centipede i about split a seam laughing....... perhaps that phrasing was in poor taste on my part there.....

Great game!

Sadly one problem. To make a key function like changing weapons reliant on scrolling kinda screws everyone with a scroll pad, so pretty much any laptop user out there.

Other than that, really fun

Really fun

but just a bit taxing at times. The difficulty of the first boss really comes out of nowhere, and losing a powerup with every hit is a bit punishing. But thats just my lack of skill talking. Fun game :D

I really enjoy it but...

the difficulty curve is immense. It goes from nearly impossible to lose to nearly impossible to win in only one level. tutorial levels have only just ended and a constant onslaught begins.

Second point, the blue does not seem to be any different from the red in its actions. it still attacks just as much, while it seems implied that the blue should be passively aggresive, taking space but not so regularly attacking...

really fun, just too difficult too quickly

Thanks for you comment. Blue bot is "fixed".

Fun enough

"They're not Tremors, they're Graboids!"

Fun game, kinda simplistic controls, but the art style was fitting enough.

Shows promise but can be frustrating at times

While i did think that this was a fun game, I must sadly admit that I could not beat it. Now while i would normaly never judge a game on whether or not i could beat it, i found at a point this game just reached a point where progress was seemingly impossible. I have the string with the tape, the two keys, the barcode reader, the level is in the slot, and ive seen everything i can find in the closet.

I realize there are paperclips everywhere, and it seems you have to look for these. But i cannot click to collect them. The tape and string cannot be selected as a tool. There are just many things that seem like they should be targets but do nothing.

Perhaps my computer is broken, perhaps there is just a glitch. In any case, the occasional hint, or perhaps a walkthrough, would be very very helpful for those of us unable to make it through as easily.

Add some music or something as well, just a soft background track can really add to a game. Some sound effects as well would help. Still though, good game that shows promise.

ThePocketWatch responds:

Okay, On this basis I think I should incorporate a small hints-system into following games.

Also, should you still be interested, several other gaming websites such as Lazylaces and the like have little forums where people ask for hints and such. You may find clues there

In terms of music, it is being planned for following games, but I simply don't have the resources at the moment. Thank you for your feedback.

Very well put together

I think visually this is a great game, great job with the menus (which, while not key, can make or break presentation), and just generally it is a great recreation of a classic arcade style. I have one point of advice, and that is to make the easy function available from the very beginning. The point of training is that it is supposed to be very simplistic, acting as a basic introduction to the mechanics, which i found to be tricky to get used to, as they are very sensitive. I found that in the beginning, for a long time, i was overpowering my shots and sending the ball into a very fast, hard to correct spiraling motion. While i realize games are fun when they pose a challenge, i feel that having the option for starting with an easy setting rather than it being an unlockable mode later would help players get into it at their own pace instead of just throwing them into a game which can be pretty tricky sometimes.

Having said this, I do think this is a great game, and is very well done. The sensitivity of the controls, which make it harder and harder to correct mistakes as they pile up, and having the easy mode as an unlock to be earned are really the only two main flaws i found in this game. Short of them, it was really very well done and one of the better games ive seen in recent times on NG.

Vibrant and stylish

I actually really enjoyed this game. There's a lot of fun to be had toying with colors, and I really like the way you went about doing that, putting a great spin on the top down shooter style. I really do hate to have to give this a nine and not a perfect ten, because i really did enjoy the game, but at times it just felt a bit too repetitive, such as in the RUN level where it was, towards the second half, simply a repeated maneuver over and over for every color. The first half of that level, however, was brilliant and I loved it. Mainly because you couldn't just find a pattern and repeat, you had to think on your toes and stay alert. Other levels lacked this at times, but only rarely. Still, i feel a nine out of ten suits this best. Great job, and I look forward to more inventive games from you in the future :D
